Nancy Stebbins
I feel that medicine should be collaborative and respectful. Educating the person regarding what treatments are
available to them and what each treatment could cost (not only financial, but in terms of commitment, time,
discomfort) is extremely important. It is gratifying to see the patient/client make use of multiple treatment
modalities to achieve better function and quality of life. But it is also important to allow the person to
decide if the treatment feels worse than the problem, or simply not worth the trouble.
