Internship Application

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. APA or CPA accredited doctoral program in counseling or clinical psychology.

  2. Commitment to uphold the principles of our "Mission Statement".

  3. Enthusiasm for expected "Intern Activities."

  4. Minimum of 550 clinical/direct contact hours.

  5. At least 1 practicum in a university/college counseling center setting.

  6. Strong interest and commitment to multiculturalism/diversity.

  7. Interest in "Academic & Career Counseling."

* Candidates must have passed their doctoral qualifying examinations before beginning the internship.




  INTERNSHIP MATCHING PROGRAM

Our program participates in the APPIC Internship Matching Program. Therefore, applicants must obtain an Applicant Agreement Package from the National Matching Service and register for the Match in order to be eligible to match to our program. Applicants can request an Applicant Agreement package from NMS through the Matching Program web site at www.natmatch.com/psychint or by contacting NMS at either of the addresses, phone or fax numbers shown below:

  APPLICATION PROCEDURES

To apply for an internship position, the following materials must be postmarked by:

November 14, 2007
  1. A brief cover letter with a statement of interest.
  2. A completed application form. Use the electronic APPIC Application for Psychology Internship (AAPI). Complete and submit all sections of the AAPI. See the AAPI Web Site listed below:


    Please see the APPIC "Forms and Document Downloads" section of the APPIC Web Site. You may read the cover letter online and download the AAPI file.

  3. A current, comprehensive vita.
  4. A list of any courses which you will complete by the beginning of the internship, but which will not appear on your transcripts.
  5. *A completed "APPIC Academic Program's Verification of Internship Eligibility and Readiness" form found as part of the AAPI completed by your academic training director.
  6. *Official transcripts of all graduate work.
  7. *Three letters of recommendation from persons with direct knowledge of your academic performance and supervised field/practicum experiences.

* These items may be sent in one packet with your application. However they must be placed in individually sealed envelopes with verification signatures over the seals.

  SELECTION PROCEDURES

After written application materials have been screened, selected applicants will be interviewed by the Training Committee. Applicants will be notified by December 15, 2007 if they have been selected for an interview. Both on-site and telephone interviews are available and will be conducted during January 2008. We will be having two open houses on January 7th and 11th.

This training program follows the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers' (APPIC) match policies, including the policy that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking related information from any intern applicant.
